  3. THE PRINT MENU OPTION
  4.  
  5.   This is probably the most
  6.  
  7. useful of STOCK ANALYZER'S options.
  8.  
  9. As its name suggests, PRINT MENU is a
  10.  
  11. sub-menu that has options to
  12.  
  13. 1. Print All
  14.  
  15. 2. Print Selective
  16.  
  17. 3. List
  18.  
  19. 4. Graph
  20.  
  21. as well as options to return to the
  22.  
  23. MAIN MENU or to QUIT the program.  Of
  24.  
  25. course you must have a printer hooked
  26.  
  27. up to use these options as they do
  28.  
  29. not print to the screen.
  30.  
  31.  
  32.   The PRINT ALL option will print out
  33.  
  34. a listing of all the stocks listed in
  35.  
  36. the market you are working in.  This
  37.  
  38. print out will show the stock name
  39.  
  40. and symbol, all of the values on
  41.  
  42. record for that stock, and its
  43.  
  44. high/low value.  Once the printing is
  45.  
  46. complete, you are returned to the
  47.  
  48. MAIN MENU.
  49.  
  50.  
  51.   The PRINT SELECTIVE prints the
  52.  
  53. same information that the PRINT ALL
  54.  
  55. option does, except that it focuses
  56.  
  57. on one stock at a time.
  58.  
  59.  
  60.   The LIST option prints an
  61.  
  62. alphabetical listing of all stocks in
  63.  
  64. the market that you are dealing with.
  65.  
  66. This option prints the stock name and
  67.  
  68. symbol, the number of individual
  69.  
  70. records on file, and the date of the
  71.  
  72. last update.
  73.  
  74.  
  75.   The GRAPH option graphs a
  76.  
  77. particular stock's performance.  To
  78.  
  79. create a graph, enter the stock name
  80.  
  81. or symbols as you have done in other
  82.  
  83. options.
  84.  
  85.  
  86.   The resulting graph will have the
  87.  
  88. highest stock value marked at the top
  89.  
  90. of the page, the lowest at the
  91.  
  92. bottom.  After the graph is
  93.  
  94. completed, you have the option of
  95.  
  96. printing another stock's entries or
  97.  
  98. returning to the MAIN MENU.
  99.  
  100.  
  101.   THE QUIT OPTION
  102.  
  103.   The quit option off of the MAIN
  104.  
  105. MENU , of course, quits the program.
  106.  
  107. If no changes have been made in the
  108.  
  109. database, you will exit the program
  110.  
  111. automatically.  If you have, however,
  112.  
  113. made changes in the database, you
  114.  
  115. will be asked if you want the changes
  116.  
  117. recorded or not.
  118.  
  119.  
  120. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
  121.  
  122.   STOCK ANALYZER has three handy
  123.  
  124. options that will work when you are
  125.  
  126. in the MAIN MENU or the PRINT MENU.
  127.  
  128.  
  129. AUTO-INPUT
  130.  
  131.   Pressing the CONTROL key while
  132.  
  133. pressing "A" while you are in the
  134.  
  135. MAIN MENU will let you enter updates
  136.  
  137. without keying in the stock name.
  138.  
  139. When you press CONTROL-A, all stocks
  140.  
  141. on file are displayed in alphabetical
  142.  
  143. order, one at a time.  The cursor
  144.  
  145. automatically rests under the LAST
  146.  
  147. value label.
  148.  
  149.  
  150.   If you have nothing to add,
  151.  
  152. pressing RETURN will send you to the
  153.  
  154. next record.  When you wish to exit
  155.  
  156. the AUTO-INPUT mode, pressing
  157.  
  158. RUN-STOP when you are prompted to
  159.  
  160. (R)eturn or go to the (N)ext stock
  161.  
  162. will get you out of this mode.
  163.  
  164.  
  165. WORKSHEET PRINT
  166.  
  167.   CONTROL-W will print out an
  168.  
  169. alphabetical worksheet you can use to
  170.  
  171. fill out your stock quotes on paper
  172.  
  173. before you enter them into the
  174.  
  175. computer.  This option works well in
  176.  
  177. conjunction with the auto-entry
  178.  
  179. option.
  180.  
  181.  
  182. BACKUP
  183.  
  184.   CONTROL-B will make a backup of any
  185.  
  186. of the four markets you are working on
  187.  
  188. onto a pre-formatted disk.  When you
  189.  
  190. press CONTROL-B, you will see a screen
  191.  
  192. showing the market about to be copied
  193.  
  194. and a prompt to change disks and to
  195.  
  196. press RETURN.
  197.  
  198.  
  199.   If you do not wish to continue with
  200.  
  201. the backup, pressing the RUN/STOP
  202.  
  203. will return you to the MAIN MENU.
  204.  
  205.  
  206.   Notice that any backup disk you use
  207.  
  208. must be pre-formatted-- the market
  209.  
  210. files must be created before you can
  211.  
  212. proceed.  To format a disk, press
  213.  
  214. CONTROL-I.  This begins an initialize
  215.  
  216. sub-program.  The program will then
  217.  
  218. ask you to press the "\" key to begin
  219.  
  220. initializing the disk.  Pressing any
  221.  
  222. other key at this juncture will
  223.  
  224. cancel this option.
  225.  
  226. ************************************
  227. WARNING: This sub-program should be
  228. run only once per data disk and will
  229. destroy previously saved market
  230. records.

  232.  
  233. ERROR MESSAGES:
  234.  
  235. FILE ERROR-- an attempt was made to
  236. load one of the market files onto an
  237. non-initialized disk.
  238.  
  239. ACTION-- Perform the initialize disk
  240. routine described previously.
  241. *************************************
  242.  
  243. FILE EMPTY ERROR--  This error
  244. message is displayed when you try to
  245. delete the last record on file for
  246. the market that you are accessing.
  247.  
  248. ACTION-- Either create a second
  249. record or initialize the disk
  250. (initializing will erase all files on
  251. that disk).
  252. *************************************
  253.  
  254. FILE FULL ERROR-- You have tried to
  255. add a new stock but the allotted disk
  256. space per market is filled.
  257.  
  258. ACTION-- Initialize a pre-formatted
  259. to be used as a file disk.
  260. **************************************
  261.  
  262. INPUT ERROR-- An error was made while
  263. inputting the records of a new
  264. stock-- for example, a 52-week low
  265. that was higher than the 52-week
  266. high.
  267.  
  268. ACTION-- Check figures and correct.

  271. RECORD NOT FOUND-- The stock name or
  272. symbol you entered was not found.
  273.  
  274. ACTION-- Enter different name.
  275. **************************************
  276.  
  277. REPEAT ERROR-- The stock name or
  278. symbol entered in the ADD (NEW)
  279. option matches exactly a stock
  280. already on file.
  281.  
  282. ACTION-- Change the name or the
  283. symbol of the stock you are adding.
